The PPN is now permanent and the network has two main objectives.

The first one, of prime importance, is to promote cross-border problem solving in cross-border cases relating to public procurement.

The point is to provide practical assistance to individual companies involved in a public procurement procedure, regardless of the originating PPN participant country. The assistance is given through a network of central government procurement policy officials named " contact points " who work in close connection to solve concrete problems.

This co-operation can achieve pre-contact solutions and thus avoid legal action later.

The second aim of the PPN is to strengthen the application and the enforcement of the procurement rules through mutual exchange of experience, best practice and benchmarking.

Therefore an important aspect of co-operation within the Public procurement Network is the creation of a cross-border specialised learning circle. Through its yearly conferences, the PPN provides an opportunity for exchanging views and thus facilitates a common understanding and application of the regulatory framework.
